Editing

This page has a selection of screen videos taking you through the steps of how to prepare and edit an audio book using Cubase. It covers the following sections:

1. First steps – what to read, setting up etc.
2. Editing
3. Adding music
4. Exporting/ delivering the book

Click on the respective videos (see links below) to watch them.
They are in two formats

1. The ordinary title e.g. ‘what-you-do-and-dont-read’ is a windows wmv file. This may not play on a Mac.
2. The second type is embedded on YouTube and anyone can click those and watch them.

Section 4 – Exporting Finished Files

Please read the ‘Important Correction’ below – it shows the updated naming convention.

Exporting finished files – please use the correct numbering (YouTube)

IMPORTANT CORRECTION:
Since this video was made Ben has asked me to change the naming convention.

So please could you name the different files ’001-{book_title}-part01′, ’002-{book_title}-part02′ etc. It is essential that every chapter start with the correct three digit number ’001′, ’002′, ’003′ etc.

NOTE: There should be no spaces in the file name, and Ben does not need the chapter name.

Then convert the files to:

  • mp3 format
  • 44,100Hz (i.e. 44.1khz)
  • 192kbs

and EITHER
burn the files onto a DVD (CDs if you prefer) and post them to me
OR
upload them to the server using the FTP info that I have provided in an email to you
OR
email them to me.
